BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday chaired a State Council executive meeting to make further arrangements on flood prevention and relief work.
All regions and departments must remain constantly vigilant in flood prevention and relief, carry out thorough inspections to identify potential risks and hazards, strengthen patrols and monitoring, and ensure the safety of major rivers and lakes, the meeting stressed.
Close attention should be paid to high-risk areas, key locations and vulnerable groups, according to the meeting. In the event of danger, people at risk must be evacuated without hesitation to minimize casualties.
Greater coordination is needed to pool flood control efforts, it said, while governments at all levels must strengthen emergency duty arrangements and ensure the readiness of personnel, equipment and relief supplies, making every effort to safeguard people's lives and property.
The meeting heard separate reports on the progress of Digital China development and the development of a modern distribution system.
It stressed the need to accelerate the development of next-generation communication and computing networks, improve digital and intelligent capabilities, and enhance the capacity to assess and prevent emerging security risks. It also called for further reductions in logistics costs and faster action to build an efficient, smooth modern distribution system.
The meeting further discussed efforts to foster emerging pillar industries, as well as the protection and utilization of natural resources.
Work shall be done to scale up emerging pillar industries across entire chains, guide localities in developing industries in light of local conditions, and improve the development pattern, security, and resilience of territorial space, it said.
The meeting also reviewed and approved the national fitness program for the 2026-2030 period. ■
