NEW YORK, July 10 (Xinhua) -- England has worries ahead of Saturday's World Cup quarterfinal against Norway, with central defender Marc Guehi struggling with a slight hamstring problem and midfielder Declan Rice missing two training sessions with a stomach bug.
Guehi picked up his injury during England's 3-2 win over Mexico at Mexico City Stadium in the round of 16, while Rice was unable to train on Wednesday and Thursday.
England coach Thomas Tuchel is already without defender Jarell Quansah, who was given a two-game ban following his red card against Mexico, and Jordan Henderson will miss the rest of the tournament after breaking his wrist falling over an advertising hoarding while celebrating England's win.
The good news for the coach is that Reece James was able to work with the squad for most of Thursday's training session and if he completes Friday's workout, he will be back in contention for a role on Saturday after his hamstring injury.
If Guehi doesn't recover in time, Tuchel will have to rotate his back four against Norway with either John Stones or Dan Burn coming into central defense, while Ezri Konsa could switch to right back, although the coach would probably hope to see his physicality used against Norway's seven-goal striker Erling Haaland. ■
