BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The so-called "Chinese squeeze" narrative is apparently inconsistent with facts, and China and Global South countries are partners in the pursuit of modernization, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Friday.
Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a daily press briefing when answering a relevant question related to the so-called "Chinese squeeze" narrative, which says that Chinese manufacturing not only sends shockwaves to Western countries, but also squeezes out space for Global South countries who seek industrial development.
As a member of the Global South, China always shares its development experience without reservation and helps advance the development of Global South countries, Mao said.
China has helped Global South countries build up their own capacity for development by conducting fruitful cooperation in infrastructure, investment and technology, helped them expand quality product export to China by opening up its market, which in turn boosts industrial development with trade revenue, and helped them improve resource allocation and accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading by providing accessible and affordable green products, the spokesperson said.
"China and Global South countries have always been partners in the pursuit of modernization," she said.
"A country's greatness lies in serving the greater good. China, with its own development, will offer more opportunities to the world for common prosperity," Mao added. ■
