FUZHOU, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A fire hit a footwear factory in east China's Fujian Province, with several people reported trapped or missing, local authorities said Thursday.
The blaze broke out at the factory in Jiangtou Village, Chendai Township of Jinjiang City at 12:04 p.m., said the fire and rescue department of Quanzhou City.
Firefighting was still underway, with multiple fire trucks and ambulances on standby at the scene. Xinhua reporters were told that rescuers could not yet enter the affected area for further search operations due to hazardous conditions. ■
