JERUSALEM, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Israel's royalties from natural gas production in 2025 totaled 1.96 billion shekels (about 649 million U.S. dollars), a decline of about 15 percent from 2024, according to an annual report issued Thursday by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The report attributed the decline mainly to lower natural gas production from the Leviathan, Tamar and Karish fields in the Mediterranean, due to stoppages during the 12-day war with Iran in June 2025 and maintenance works.

Additional factors included lower export prices, following a 12.5 percent decline in the dollar against the shekel and a 15 percent fall in global oil prices in 2025.

Data showed that 26.59 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced from the three fields in 2025, with nearly half exported to Egypt and Jordan, and the rest supplying the domestic market.

Total current revenue accumulated from natural gas royalties collected from 2004 to 2025 reached about 17 billion shekels.
