TASHKENT, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The first international forum on Islamic civilization kicked off here Tuesday, bringing together hundreds of scholars, government and public representatives, and heads of international organizations from more than 40 countries.
Initiated by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the forum is co-organized by Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, among other institutions, to discuss cross-cultural dialogue and innovation in science and education.
In a congratulatory message to the forum, Mirziyoyev said that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to science, innovation, modern education, and the study of historical and cultural heritage, emphasizing that science and education serve as a solid foundation for peace and sustainable development.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a congratulatory message, saying that the forum contributes to enhancing peace, promoting dialogue, and building mutual trust within the framework of modern international relations.
The forum will run through July 11, with multiple international academic conferences scheduled to take place in the Uzbek cities of Samarkand and Termez. ■
