HANOI, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rain and landslides triggered by the remnants of Typhoon Maysak damaged homes, farmland and infrastructure in Vietnam's northern provinces of Lao Cai and Cao Bang from July 4 to 6, with no casualties reported, the Vietnam News Agency reported Monday.

In Lao Cai province, preliminary losses were estimated at nearly 6.3 billion Vietnamese dong (about 250,000 U.S. dollars), with 73 houses affected, more than 67 hectares of crops inundated, hundreds of livestock and poultry lost, and multiple landslides disrupting traffic, the report said.

Floodwaters also swept away a wooden bridge, isolating 32 households in the Na Hang residential area of Che Tao commune.

In Cao Bang province, torrential rain damaged 34 houses, a livestock shed, seven roads, two irrigation facilities and more than 12 hectares of crops, with losses estimated at 1.5 billion Vietnamese dong (about 59,500 dollars), the report added.
