VIENTIANE, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The first extraordinary session of Lao National Assembly's 10th legislature opened in capital Vientiane on Monday to discuss urgent national issues.
The session, held from Monday to Friday, is being presided over by National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane, according to Lao National TV on Tuesday.
The opening ceremony was attended by Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, senior officials, former leaders, cabinet members, and representatives of relevant sectors.
During the session, lawmakers are expected to deliberate on the government's reports on the implementation of the National Socio-Economic Development Plan, the State Budget, and the Monetary Plan for the first half of 2026, as well as priorities for the remainder of the year.
They will also consider the National Agenda on Rural Development and Poverty Reduction, the draft Law on the State Treasury, and proposed amendments to the Law on the State Budget. ■
