NEW YORK, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti said on Monday he remained confident in his long-term project despite the team's shock World Cup round-of-16 defeat by Norway.
"Today the pain is immense," the Italian said on social media. "But my belief in what we're building hasn't changed. We'll keep working for our national team. Always together. Always Brazil!"
The comments came a day after a late brace from Erling Haaland fired Norway to a 2-1 victory in New Jersey, dashing the Brazilian side's hopes of a sixth World Cup title.
Ancelotti, who took charge of Brazil in May last year, extended his contract for another four years in March.
Brazil finished top of its World Cup group and beat Japan in the round of 32 before Sunday's elimination. ■
