SEATTLE, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Belgium manager Rudi Garcia said his side would quickly turn its attention to Spain after Monday's 4-1 victory over the United States in the round of 16.
Charles De Ketelaere scored twice and assisted another goal as Belgium set up a clash with the reigning European champion in Los Angeles on July 10.
"Personally, I'm happy we'll be playing Spain," Garcia said. "For now, we'll enjoy this victory because the next match is very close.
"We'll begin preparing tomorrow. Reaching the quarterfinals is a good achievement, but we want to go even further. That's our ambition."
He reserved special praise for his side's fans both at the stadium and in Belgium.
"I'd like to thank all those who stayed awake to support us. Their backing means a lot," he said.
Garcia praised his team's ability to neutralize the United States' high-energy game, saying his team had reversed the script at Seattle Stadium.
"We wanted pace in attack and players who could also help defensively on both flanks," he said. "We expected the United States to press high, but in the end we were the team that did it. We're very satisfied with our performance tonight.
"We played with desire and commitment. It was a great night for us and we're delighted to qualify for the quarterfinals."
The victory was soured by an injury to Amadou Onana in the first half. The Aston Villa midfielder fell to the ground clutching his right knee and was replaced by Hans Vanaken in the 21st minute.
"We fear it could be serious and we're waiting for the medical results," Garcia said. "It's not good news for him or for us if he can't continue in the World Cup." ■
