JERUSALEM, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreign tourists visiting Israel reached 81,900 in June, up 48.1 percent year-on-year, according to figures issued by the country's Central Bureau of Statistics on Monday.
The increase comes amid the gradual return of foreign airlines to Israel since April 12, days after a temporary two-week truce between the warring parties in the Iran conflict came into effect.
Meanwhile, the number of foreign tourists visiting Israel in the first half of the year amounted to 427,800, down 30 percent year-on-year amid the U.S.-Israel war with Iran, which broke out on Feb. 28.
Israel's multi-front conflicts since October 2023 have led to a steep tourism slump in recent years, after tourist arrivals hit 2.68 million in 2022 and 3.01 million in 2023. ■
