Foreign investment into Vietnam surges 61 pct in H1

HANOI, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam secured 34.65 billion U.S. dollars in foreign investment commitments in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year jump of 61 percent, the Vietnam News Agency reported Monday, citing the National Statistics Office (NSO).

During the January-June period, newly registered capital reached 17.39 billion U.S. dollars across 2,013 projects, up 87.2 percent in value from a year earlier. Singapore was the largest source of new investment, with more than 7.3 billion U.S. dollars, according to the report.

Additional investment in 541 existing projects reached 11.04 billion U.S. dollars, while capital contributions and share acquisitions totaled 6.22 billion U.S. dollars.

Manufacturing and processing remained the biggest recipient of foreign capital, attracting 17.91 billion U.S. dollars, ahead of the real estate sector with 5.1 billion U.S. dollars.

A total of 13.03 billion U.S. dollars in foreign investment was disbursed during the period, the highest first-half level recorded over the past five years, the NSO said.
