RAMALLAH, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village in the West Bank on Monday, causing injuries, while others established a new outpost north of Jerusalem, according to Palestinian sources.

Local and Palestinian security sources said about 30 armed settlers, under the protection of Israeli forces, attacked Palestinian homes in the village of Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, resulting in six injuries.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority's Jerusalem Governorate said Israeli settlers established a new pastoral outpost north of the city of Jerusalem, as part of a push to seize Palestinian land and drive out residents.

The governorate said in a press statement that settlement outposts in the city have climbed to around 23, mostly concentrated in eastern and northern Jerusalem.

Israeli authorities have not commented on these developments.

Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 war and has established settlements there, which are widely considered illegal under international law.

More than 700,000 Israeli settlers are living in settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law, and 3.3 million Palestinians are living in the same area, according to a 2025 UN report.

In a statement released Monday, Mu'ayyad Sha'ban, head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, said Israeli forces and settlers carried out 11,074 attacks in the West Bank during the first half of 2026.
