BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 6 (Xinhua) -- A total of 300 eligible Bruneians received the keys to their new homes under the national housing scheme during a ceremony held on Monday, according to Brunei's Ministry of Development.
According to the ministry, the provision of comfortable and affordable homes, which are heavily subsidized by the government, reflects the second aspiration of Brunei Vision 2035 to ensure a high quality of life for the people.
The ministry said the national housing program remains one of the government's key initiatives to improve the well-being of citizens by providing quality housing at affordable prices.
Since its establishment in the 1950s, the National Housing Scheme has achieved significant progress, with the Housing Development Department completing more than 31,000 houses and land lots for eligible Bruneians.
The ministry added that national housing areas are planned as integrated communities, featuring essential public facilities such as mosques, children's playgrounds and other amenities to provide residents with a comprehensive and conducive living environment. ■
