NEW YORK, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland said his penalty save put the team on the right track for victory.
"When you are able to save a penalty that early (it is then) very hard to beat you," he said after Norway's 2-1 win over Brazil. "It was a great moment for myself but also for the team to give ourselves some breathing space."
Erling Haaland scored twice in the closing stages as Norway stunned the five-time champion to reach its first World Cup quarterfinal at New York New Jersey Stadium.
Nyland saved a penalty from Bruno Guimaraes in the 14th minute before Haaland broke the deadlock with a powerful 79th-minute header and added a second in the 90th minute.
"In the end we also managed to score at the right moments, so that was amazing," said the 35-year-old goalkeeper.
Norway now faces the winner of Sunday's late game between Mexico and England. ■
