YANGON, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The Shwedagon Pagoda, also known as the Golden Pagoda in Myanmar, attracted over 3.87 million visitors during the first half of this year, U Boe Thin, a member of the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees, told Xinhua on Saturday.
From January to June, over 40,000 international tourists visited the pagoda, with most coming from China and Thailand, he said.
Compared with the same period last year, when the pagoda attracted more than 3.5 million visitors, the number of visitors increased during the first half of this year, he added. ■
