MADRID, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Real Club Deportivo de A Coruna has signed Mallorca's Spain international goalkeeper Leo Roman for nine million euros (about 10.3 million U.S. dollars) and with a contract until the end of June 2031.

Deportivo has taken advantage of the fact that the 25-year-old's buyout clause was reduced from 12 million to nine million euros on July 1 following Mallorca's relegation to the Spanish second division.

Deportivo was promoted to La Liga from the second division last season, returning to the elite after eight seasons following its relegation in 2018.

Roman had an excellent season for Mallorca despite the club's relegation, with his performances earning him a call-up among the support players to help the Spain national team prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He made his full international debut on June 4 when he replaced Joan Garcia in the 73rd minute of Spain's warm-up match against Iraq at Deportivo's Riazor Stadium.
