SYDNEY, July 4 (Xinhua) -- An SUV and a motorcycle collided south of Sydney on Saturday afternoon, causing an 18-year-old rider to come off the motorcycle who later died in hospital, police in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) said in a statement.
Police said that emergency services were called to an intersection in Barrack Heights, a suburb in the Shellharbour area south of Sydney, at about 4.30 p.m. local time following a two-vehicle crash.
The rider was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital in a critical condition.
The learner driver of the SUV was a 16-year-old boy. He and his supervisor were uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing. ■
