HANOI, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's consumer price index (CPI) in the first half of 2026 rose 4.38 percent year on year, the Vietnam News Agency reported Friday, citing the National Statistics Office.

The increase was mainly driven by higher prices for housing, electricity, water and fuel, which rose 6.72 percent, along with higher transport costs and food and catering services, which went up 5.23 percent and 4.79 percent, respectively, the report said.

In June alone, the CPI edged up 4.69 percent year on year.

During the six-month period, core inflation rose 4.12 percent from the same period last year, according to the report.
