SINGAPORE, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Ministry of Social and Family Development said Thursday that it will invest 15 million Singapore dollars (11.7 million U.S. dollars) over the next three years to pilot emerging technologies aimed at improving outcomes for families and communities, as it accelerates digital transformation in the social sector.
Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli said in a statement that the ministry's next phase of transformation will focus on strengthening preventive support through better use of data, deepening collaboration with industry and academia, and leveraging technology to enhance the capabilities of social service professionals.
The ministry also signed memoranda of understanding with technology firms NCS and ST Engineering to co-develop and test new technology solutions with social service agencies and other sector stakeholders.
The partnerships will focus on early-stage technology experimentation, including the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools in real-world social care settings. The initiative complements existing projects such as CaseCentral, the MSF's case management platform, and Scribe, a transcription and summarization tool. ■
