BEIRUT, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces carried out a demolition operation on Thursday targeting several homes in the southern Lebanese border town of Hadatha in the Bint Jbeil district, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.
Explosions could be heard across nearby towns and villages, sending shockwaves throughout the region, and no casualties were immediately reported, according to NNA.
Meanwhile, Israeli reconnaissance drones continued flying at low altitude over several southern areas, including Tyre, Abbassiyeh, Burj al-Shemali, and the Zahrani area, it added.
Separately, the Emergency Operations Center at the Lebanese Public Health Ministry said on Thursday that the cumulative death toll from Israeli attacks since March 2 has risen to 4,298, with 12,196 people injured.
Also on Thursday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun defended the framework agreement signed with Israel, saying that it safeguards Lebanon's rights and that negotiations are the least costly way to secure an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory. ■
