SINGAPORE, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) on Wednesday launched a new research institute focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced computing, as the city-state steps up efforts to accelerate the development and deployment of digital technologies.
The new entity, the A*STAR Institute of Advanced Intelligence and Computing, will consolidate A*STAR's capabilities in AI, data, digital technologies, modeling and simulation, quantum technologies and high-performance computing under a single organization, A*STAR said in a statement.
It said the institute will support Singapore's efforts to develop and deploy AI and digital solutions across research, industry and the public sector, while strengthening the translation of research into commercial and real-world applications. ■
