BANGKOK, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Foreign film crews spent 4.03 billion baht (about 120 million U.S. dollars) filming in Thailand during the first half of 2026, with 302 productions registering for permits, official data showed on Wednesday.

According to the Department of Tourism, the six-month revenue already exceeds half of the 7-billion-baht (210-million-USD) record set for the whole of 2025, which was the Southeast Asian country's best year on record for foreign film production.

Based on this momentum, along with large-scale productions planned for the latter half, the department expects Thailand will very likely hit a fresh milestone for foreign film revenue again this year.

In a statement, Jaturon Phakdeewanit, director-general of the department, cited the country's film incentive measures, which offer cash rebates of up to 30 percent to foreign productions, as a key factor in its competitiveness.
