TOKYO, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were injured after a man sprayed a substance, believed to be bear repellent spray, inside a post office in central Japan on Wednesday, local media reported.
The local fire department received an emergency call at around 11:50 a.m. local time reporting the incident in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Kyodo News reported, citing police and fire department officials.
Emergency responders found eight people complaining of physical distress upon arrival. Five of them were taken to the hospital and all reportedly remained conscious.
The suspect was being questioned, the report said.
The post office is located around 300 meters east of Kanayama Station in an area with many apartment buildings and eateries. ■
