KABUL, July 1 (Xinhua) -- A new veterinary complex built with an investment of 50 million afghanis (nearly 800,000 U.S. dollars) has been inaugurated in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, the official media Bakhtar news agency said on Wednesday.
According to the report, the facility offers a wide range of veterinary and poultry services, including internal medicine, surgery, artificial insemination, vaccination, laboratory diagnostics, as well as animal care and emergency response services.
It added that the center aims to strengthen the livestock sector and help prevent the spread of animal diseases in the region. The complex is equipped with a modern laboratory for poultry testing and other related examinations.
Farmers and livestock owners in the province welcomed the opening of the facility, saying it would help reduce animal losses and improve access to veterinary treatment.
According to the provincial agriculture department, dozens of livestock and animal breeding centers have already been established in Nangarhar, creating employment opportunities for thousands of people both directly and indirectly. ■
