MANILA, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' total external trade in goods increased by 16.1 percent in May 2026 to 21.23 billion U.S. dollars from 18.28 billion dollars in May 2025, according to the country's statistics authorities on Tuesday.

Of the total external trade in May 2026, the agency said 62.9 percent were imported goods, while the remaining 37.1 percent were exported goods, said the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The agency said the balance of trade in goods, the difference between export and import values, in May 2026 amounted to minus 5.48 billion dollars, indicating a trade deficit with an annual increase of 50.5 percent.

China was the Philippines' largest supplier of imported goods, accounting for 4.23 billion U.S. dollars, or 31.7 percent of the country's total imports in May, said PSA.
