VIENTIANE, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Tuesday held a meeting to review its performance during the first half of 2026 and discuss priority work plans for the second half of the year, with a focus on strengthening the country's economy.
The meeting was chaired by Lao Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaithong Kommasith, according to the ministry.
The meeting highlighted achievements, including stable fuel supply during the energy crisis, faster responses to illegal mining and accidents, support for SMEs to increase production, progress in reducing trade barriers with foreign partners, and efforts to promote electric vehicles.
The meeting also adopted a work plan focusing on priority areas for the remaining six months of 2026, including developing solutions to economic challenges, promoting domestic production, reforming state-owned enterprises, modernizing the trade system, and improving the quality of human resources. ■
