BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese companies are calling for the resolution of issues affecting bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and the European Union (EU) through dialogue and consultation, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) said Tuesday.

Chinese firms also hope the EU side will provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese firms operating in Europe, Wang Yifei, a spokesperson for the CCPIT, told a press conference.

At the press conference, the trade promotion body released its 2025 EU business environment report, which is based on a survey of Chinese enterprises.

The report revealed that business communities in China and the EU engaged actively in 2025, with fruitful cooperation outcomes and growing willingness to strengthen cooperation. Some 53 percent of respondents rated the EU's business environment positively, while 48.8 percent said they planned to expand supply chain cooperation with EU companies.

According to the report, Chinese firms operating in Europe are prioritizing the EU's digital economy, financial and green economy sectors.

Surveyed companies expressed concerns regarding the EU's growing tendency of abusing the concept of security on economic and trade issues, alongside rising trade and investment barriers and higher production costs.

The report further noted that the EU's expanding green legislation has notably driven up market-entry and operating costs for foreign firms, with the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in particular adding to operating costs and business uncertainty.

CBAM is the EU's measure that imposes a carbon price on emissions embedded in certain carbon-intensive goods entering the EU and aligns the carbon cost of imports with that faced by EU producers under the EU Emissions Trading System.
