OTTAWA, June 29 (Xinhua) -- A cultural exchange event themed "Global Linking of Dunhuang Culture" has been held in Ottawa recently.
Chinese Ambassador to Canada Wang Di said at the event that Dunhuang is a prime example of the integration of civilizations along the ancient Silk Road, and that Dunhuang culture has witnessed the harmonious coexistence of different civilizations, providing valuable insights for enhancing understanding and deepening exchanges among civilizations today.
China is willing to work with Canada to enhance mutual understanding through cultural exchanges, promote people-to-people connectivity through dialogue among civilizations, and push for more practical achievements in China-Canada people-to-people exchanges, Wang added.
Artists from the Gansu Performing Arts Group presented a performance inspired by music and dances depicted in Dunhuang murals, recreating the splendor of the ancient Silk Road and the essence of Dunhuang art through artistic interpretation.
The event also featured a themed restoration display of Dunhuang cave relics and a VR immersive exhibition, allowing the audience to experience the profound heritage and vibrant charm of Dunhuang culture. ■
