NEW DELHI, June 29 (Xinhua) -- To curb rising air pollution, Delhi's government on Monday announced an EV policy granting 100 percent exemption from road tax and registration fees for electric cars priced up to 3 million Indian rupees (around 31,736 U.S. dollars).
Approved by the cabinet, the policy will take effect on July 1 and aims to make Delhi pollution-free by March 2030.
The policy also calls for the gradual phase-out of petrol/compressed natural gas two-wheelers, with only electric two-wheelers allowed to be sold and registered in Delhi from April 2028.
The government said it will invest 150 billion Indian rupees over the next four years to promote electric mobility. ■
