JAKARTA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's finance ministry will deploy officials to monitor the government's flagship free nutritious meal program as the National Nutrition Agency prepares further budget efficiencies, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said Friday.
Purbaya said the agency has reported planned additional savings after a meeting with the ministry on Thursday, but he did not disclose the amount, adding that nutritional standards will not be affected.
He said officials from the ministry will be sent to regional offices to oversee local implementation units and monitor the use of the budget.
The government has already reduced the program's 2026 budget, while further adjustments remain under consideration. ■
