ACCRA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Football fans in Ghana have expressed optimism that the country's national team, the Black Stars, will beat Croatia in their final FIFA World Cup Group L match on Saturday.
The streets of the Ghanaian capital, Accra, as well as pubs and restaurants are bustling with fans continuing to celebrate the success of the Black Stars in the World Cup.
Ghana edged Panama 1-0 in their opening group match and drew 0-0 against star-studded England and the fans say the Black Stars will continue with their impressive run.
A die-hard fan of the Black Stars Sammy Jersey told Xinhua the team should stick to their game plan against Croatia to ensure victory.
"We love the performance of the Black Stars, and we pray that they continue with this performance. We are going to win by 2-1. They should keep up the good work and the defensive side of football, and the way the wings are, they should just keep that kind of formation up, and I know victory is ours," said Sammy.
Another fan, Patience Gatsu, observed that there is so much optimism around the team to be successful in the World Cup and that nothing short of a victory is what she is expecting from the Black Stars over the weekend.
She said, "The performance of the Black Stars is amazing, and we have so much confidence that they will make us proud. As for the Saturday game, we are going to win 2-0."
Ghana sits second in Group L after England and ahead of Croatia and Panama. ■
