LONDON, June 26 (Xinhua) -- A pilot was killed after a light aircraft crashed near an airfield in southwest England on Friday morning, local police said.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called shortly after 10 a.m. (0900 GMT) following reports that a light aircraft had crashed near Dunkeswell Airfield in Devon.
Emergency services attended the scene, where the pilot, believed to be a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead. Nobody else was on board, police said.
The pilot's relatives were informed about the accident, and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been notified.
Police said they would work closely with the branch to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and urged the public not to speculate or post relevant footage online. ■
