JAKARTA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has launched a school holiday shopping campaign offering discounts of up to 50 percent to boost domestic consumption and tourist trips.
The program involves 800 brands, around 80,000 outlets, and 414 shopping centers across 24 provinces, the Ministry of Tourism said Thursday.
The ministry's spokesperson Nia Niscaya said the campaign is part of the government's efforts to encourage people to travel domestically and explore more accessible and affordable destinations.
She said shopping tourism can broaden the economic impact of tourism by supporting retailers, shopping centers, micro, small, and medium enterprises, culinary businesses, and the creative economy. ■
