ALMATY, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan has reduced the gas production at the Karachaganak field following disruptions at the Orenburg gas processing plant in Russia, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov said on Friday.

The gas output has been cut from 34,000 tonnes to 25,000 tonnes, without affecting domestic gas supplies, the Kazinform news agency quoted Akkenzhenov as saying.

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian military said it struck Russia's Orenburg gas processing plant and its only helium plant.

After the Russian plant disruption, Kazakh Energy Ministry spokesperson Assel Serikpayeva said the country had adjusted its gas supply logistics while the country's gas infrastructure was operating normally.

The Orenburg plant processes raw gas from Kazakhstan's Karachaganak field. Under long-term supply agreements, at least 15 billion cubic meters of raw gas are delivered to the plant every year for processing before being supplied to consumers in Kazakhstan and Russia.
