MIAMI, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Scotland coach Steve Clarke admitted his team faces the prospect of an early World Cup exit after a 3-0 defeat to five-time champion Brazil in its final Group C match on Wednesday.
"It was a disappointing performance and a poor result," Clarke said after the match. "If you give a team like Brazil the chances that we gave them, you expect to get punished."
"That's what happened. As for our chances at the moment, I think we are probably going home," he added.
Scotland has three points from its 1-0 victory over Haiti and currently sits third in the group behind Brazil and Morocco.
The eight best third-placed teams across the tournament's 12 groups will advance to the knockout stage, but Scotland's chances of progressing now appear slim. ■
