DAR ES SALAAM, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese and Russian embassies in Tanzania on Wednesday night marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation in Dar es Salaam.
The commemoration, hosted by the two embassies, featured a screening of the co-produced film Red Silk (2025) at the Russian Cultural Center.
Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian said China-Russia relations have served as an example of a new type of major-country relationship and are now at their highest level in history.
Russian Ambassador to Tanzania Andrey Avetisyan said the bilateral ties have reached an unprecedented level, supported by regular high-level exchanges between the two countries' leaders.
He emphasized growing cooperation in trade, conducted increasingly in national currencies, as well as expanding humanitarian and cultural exchanges, including visa-free travel arrangements.
Tanzanian Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Paul Makonda said the event demonstrated the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international friendship and mutual understanding.
Film plays a vital role in preserving history and promoting dialogue, he said, adding that Tanzania looks forward to deeper cooperation with China and Russia in the creative industry. ■
