HANOI, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is expected to export about 5 million tons of rice in the first six months of 2026, generating 2.36 billion U.S. dollars in revenue, the Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday, citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
During the period, the export volume is projected to increase 5.7 percent year on year, while export value is expected to decline 3.3 percent due to lower prices, the report said.
The ministry said the global rice market continues to be affected by geopolitical factors, putting pressure on supply and demand and prompting cautious trading.
The easing of tensions in the Middle East is expected to support the recovery of trade activities, while the global energy market is likely to take time to fully recover, the ministry added. ■
