MADRID, June 23 (Xinhua) -- A fire broke out at Madrid's Torre Moeve, Spain's second-tallest skyscraper, on Tuesday, sending plumes of smoke into the sky that were visible from across the city. The tower was evacuated as a precaution, and authorities reported no fatalities or injuries.

The fire followed an explosion inside the building at around 5:00 p.m. local time, Spanish national broadcaster RTVE reported, citing the National Police. According to the Spanish government delegation in Madrid, the blaze started on the 25th floor, which houses technical rooms.

Firefighters from the Madrid City Council have declared the fire extinguished and were inspecting the interior of the building, the delegation said. According to local media, two workers were treated for mild smoke inhalation and a passer-by for an anxiety attack, with all three discharged at the scene without being taken to hospitals.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
