HANOI, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's northern Dien Bien province has become the first province in the country to pilot the development of the low-altitude economy using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), local daily VnEconomy reported Wednesday.
The pilot program was approved on Tuesday under a decision issued by provincial authorities licensing a regulatory sandbox for testing digital technology-based products and services related to the low-altitude economy.
The province aims to conduct around 6,000 UAV flights during the pilot period, with a target flight safety rate of more than 99 percent, according to the report.
The program, running through May 31, 2027, focuses on agriculture, logistics, healthcare, digital mapping with UAVs deployed for transporting farming products, supplies, medicines, medical equipment, laboratory samples and other essential goods. ■
