TBILISI, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said Tuesday that the country's goal is to ensure that "not a single" illegal migrant remains in Georgia following a record number of deportations.

Speaking to reporters, Kobakhidze said Georgia has deported more illegal migrants over the past year than it did during the previous 10 years combined, highlighting the government's intensified efforts to strengthen migration control.

He attributed the results to institutional reforms and policies implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including efforts to strengthen the ministry's migration unit.

Approximately 20,000 illegal migrants are currently in Georgia, Kobakhidze said, adding that authorities will continue to take active measures to reduce the number.
