SINGAPORE, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Singapore transport operator ComfortDelGro on Monday launched public rides for its autonomous shuttle service in Punggol in northeastern Singapore.
The service is powered by autonomous driving technology from U.S.-listed Chinese firm Pony.ai and expands an earlier invitation-only trial into a consumer-facing operation.
From Monday, residents and visitors can book free rides through the Zig app, with the service operating along designated routes linking residential areas with transport hubs and amenities, both parties said in separate statements.
ComfortDelGro said the launch forms part of its strategy to scale autonomous mobility across its international network, with a target of transitioning about 10 percent of its global point-to-point fleet to autonomous vehicles by 2030. ■
