ISLAMABAD, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan and Russia have underscored the importance of enhancing counterterrorism cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as both countries seek to strengthen regional efforts against evolving security threats, the foreign ministry said here on Tuesday.
During the 12th round of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group to Counter International Terrorism held in Islamabad, the two sides expressed satisfaction with growing bilateral collaboration in the field of counterterrorism, the ministry said in a statement.
The two sides also discussed regional security challenges, emerging terrorist threats, and avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation. Both sides highlighted the need for coordinated international responses to address the emerging challenges effectively, it said.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to combating terrorism and promoting regional peace and security through dialogue, information sharing, and practical cooperation, according to the statement. ■
