GAZA, June 22 (Xinhua) -- A paramedic and a high school student were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Monday, according to Palestinian sources.

Eyewitnesses said an Israeli drone fired a missile at a vehicle traveling in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

One person was killed and several others were injured, some critically, in the strike, Palestinian medical sources told Xinhua, identifying the deceased as a paramedic.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its teams transported the body of a girl and three injured people to its al-Saraya field hospital following an Israeli airstrike in the al-Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City.

Eyewitnesses said Israeli drones targeted a vehicle with multiple missiles in a busy commercial area as high school students were heading to examination centers.

Local sources identified the deceased as 17-year-old high school student.

The Israeli military had not commented on either incident.

Gaza's health authorities said in a daily report that hospitals across the enclave received the bodies of three people killed and 11 wounded over the past 24 hours.

According to the authorities, the death toll since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025 has risen to 1,024, with 3,260 people injured.

The authorities added that the overall death toll in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, had reached 73,035, with 173,368 people wounded.

Israeli attacks have continued despite a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that came into effect in October 2025. Israel says its strikes target Hamas members and military infrastructure.
