JAKARTA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- The green economy is projected to create around 3.88 million jobs in Indonesia this year, the Ministry of Manpower said in its 2026 Employment Outlook.

The projection is supported by natural resource downstreaming and the development of new and renewable energy, Anwar Sanusi, head of the ministry's Manpower Planning and Development Agency, said Monday.

He said the circular economy, transport electrification, and industrial modernization will also be key drivers of job creation.

"Job opportunities from the downstreaming agenda and the green economy must be supported by workers with the competencies required by industry. Therefore, capacity building is an important factor," Sanusi said.

Sanusi also highlighted artificial intelligence, automation, digitalization, and sustainability as key trends shaping the global labor market, saying Indonesia is at a critical moment to make its workforce more productive, inclusive, and sustainable.
