BANGKOK, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Thailand is treating the safety of the public and tourists as a serious priority, alongside efforts to suppress transnational crime, call-center scam operations, human trafficking, and cybercrime, government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek said on Monday.

In a statement, Ratchada said Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has directed all agencies to work in an integrated manner to build security and safety for citizens.

She emphasized that because much of this crime is linked through cross-border networks, the government must upgrade its tools and international cooperation to keep pace with evolving criminal methods.

One key instrument, she said, is the Thai Police's SCAM & Human Trafficking Information Exchange and Linked Database, or "SHIELD," which has drawn interest from several countries as a central platform for exchanging information on transnational crime.

At the same time, Ratchada noted that the Thai government is moving forward with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) through the Intelligent Bird Eye Operation Center (IBOC) to enhance surveillance and crime prevention in key economic and tourism areas, enabling officials to detect anomalies and respond to incidents more quickly.
