PHNOM PENH, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's international air passenger traffic fell 6 percent year-on-year to 2.87 million during the first five months of 2026, said an official report released on Monday.
The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) report revealed that international and domestic airlines operated a total of 27,843 flights to Cambodia's international airports from January to May this year, marking a 1-percent year-on-year increase.
It added that the Southeast Asian nation's air cargo volume jumped 34 percent to 38,951 tonnes in the first five months of the year.
SSCA's Secretary of State and Spokesperson Sinn Chanserey Vutha noted that while the air network remained stable, passenger numbers dropped despite a significant rise in cargo transport.
He said Cambodia has four operational international airports: Techo International Airport, which serves the capital city of Phnom Penh; Siem Reap Angkor International Airport; Sihanouk International Airport; and Dara Sakor International Airport, which currently handles domestic flights only.
According to Vutha, 35 airlines, 31 international and four domestic, currently connect Cambodia to other ASEAN member states, East Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. ■
