AMMAN, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf held talks here on Sunday, reaffirming commitment to deepening bilateral ties and enhancing collaboration in economic, agricultural, health and pharmaceutical sectors.
The two sides discussed activating the Jordanian-Algerian Business Forum, and agreed to study the possibility of establishing a list of priority goods for preferential trade arrangements, read a statement by Jordan's Foreign Ministry.
They also agreed to begin preparations for the 10th session of the Jordanian-Algerian Joint Ministerial Committee, read the statement.
On regional developments, they reviewed efforts to contain escalation and restore calm, and stressed the need to address the root causes of tensions.
They emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in Gaza and ensuring sustained humanitarian aid delivery to the enclave, while urging a halt to Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, including settlement expansion and land confiscation.
They also addressed preparations for the Arab foreign ministers' consultative meeting and the resumed 165th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, both of which Jordan is set to host on Monday. ■
