YANGON, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar police seized nearly 10 kilograms of heroin, 1.05 million stimulant tablets, and firearms in Sagaing region, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined police team intercepted three vehicles in Kalewa township, Sagaing region, on June 7 and made the seizure, the report said.
Three drivers of the vehicles were arrested. Investigations showed that the narcotics were being transported from Mandalay to Tiddim town in Chin state, and that two men from Tiddim town, who remained at large, are the main suspects, it said.
Authorities are making efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects, it said.
The suspects have been charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigation is ongoing, it added. ■
