BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Wang Huning on Monday urged members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) to perform their duties with a focus on the central tasks of the Party and the country.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, made the remarks when presiding over a meeting of the Chairpersons Council of the CPPCC National Committee.
Wang called on political advisors to actively offer suggestions and advice on promoting coordinated regional development, advancing all-around rural revitalization, and achieving common prosperity for all.
He called for efforts to guide CPPCC members from the economic and scientific and technological sectors, among other fields, to put forward suggestions on developing industries of the future through inspections, field visits, and proposals.
He also emphasized the need for political advisors to conduct in-depth research and consultations on key issues such as the integrated advancement of education, science and technology, and talent development, and the building of a national strategic talent pool.
The meeting discussed and adopted the draft agenda and schedule of the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, which will be convened in Beijing in late August. ■
